外国语学院
外国语学院下设英语系、应用外语系、公共英语大学部和国际交流与教育部，主要承担全校大学英语公共课教学、英语本科专业人才培养，和来华留学生的教学与管理工作。现有英语（本科）、俄语（专科）两个专业，教职工68人，其中专任教师 58人。专任教师中，博士生3人，在读博士5人，教授 2人，副教授9人，特聘教授2人，外籍教师3人。现有全日制在校生965人。学院现有校内数字多媒体语音室12间，外语自主学习中心4间；与北京外国语大学海南附属外国语校等省内优质小学共建校外实习实训基地14个，满足学生专业学习，教育见习、实习、研习的基本需求。学院教学特色鲜明，教师在“外教社杯”全国外语教学大赛、外研社“教学之星”大赛、海南省教师教学创新大赛、海南省青年教师大赛等比赛中获奖18人次。学生在“外研社杯・国才杯”全国英语演讲、阅读、写作、翻译大赛，“外教社·词达人杯”全国大学生英语词汇能力大赛等比赛中表现出色，屡获佳绩。2022至2023年，学生分别在外研社英语演讲和英语写作比赛中获得国赛三等奖。近些年，英语学科建设突飞猛进，小学英语课程与教学论获选第三批省级一流本科课程，综合英语获批海南省“三进”示范课程培育建设项目。已建成综合英语、英语阅读等6门校级一流本科课程、3门校级思政示范课程和1门校级精品在线开放课程。英语专业2022年被纳入师范专业协同提质计划，与陕西师范大学、海南师范大学进行教育提质合作。2023年外国语言文学学科成为校级重点培育学科。自2017年升本以来，英语专业已有3届毕业生，毕业生以专业基础扎实、实践能力强、安心基层工作等优良素质而受到用人单位和社会的一致好评，为外国语学院带来了良好的办学声誉。

School of Foreign Languages
The School of Foreign Languages (SFL) of QiongTai Normal University (QTNU) consists of four sub-divisions, namely, English Department, Applied Linguistics Department, Public Foreign Languages Teaching Department, and International Education Department. English Department and Applied Linguistics Department are mainly responsible for educating and teaching undergraduate English majors; Public Foreign Languages Teaching Department mainly takes responsibilities for the teaching of English language to the whole number of undergraduates of all other schools; International Education Department is in charge of teaching and administration for international students. The SFL presently offers Bachelor of Arts degree program, namely BA in English Language and Literature, and Associate Bachelor in Russian.
The SFL has a total number of 68 faculty members, 58 of them being professional teachers, two of them being professors, two of them being distinguished professors, nine of them being associate professors. As far as academic degree is concerned, three of them are doctors and five of them are would-be (in-study) doctor. Of these, three are foreign teachers. As for the number of students, there are about 965 students studying in this School.
The SFL is equipped with 12 multi-media audio-video classrooms and 4 web-assisted self-access learning centers. Besides, 14 off-campus internship and training bases within Hainan Province have been established to meet the fundamental needs of students for learning, training and research.
Teachers in SFL have gained excellent achievements in various national and provincial contests, such as SFLEP National Foreign Language Teaching Contest, FLTRP Star Teacher Contest, Higher Education Teaching Innovation Competition of Hainan Province and Teaching Contest for young teachers of Hainan Province.
Students from the Department of English have also repeatedly made remarkable achievements in various national tests and contests, such as “FLTRP • Guocai Cup” National English Speech, Reading, Writing and Translation Contest, “SFLEP Vocab Go Cup”National English Vocabulary Contest.
The SFL has achieved remarkable progress in building the Discipline of English: Curriculum and Teaching Theory of Elementary School English has been listed in the third batch of provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses; Integrated English Course has been approved as “Three Entries” Model Course (Nurturing) Project of Hainan Province. 6 school-level first-class undergraduate courses, including Integrated English Course and Extensive Reading, 3 school-level model courses with ideological and political education and 1 high-quality open online course have been offered. In 2022, English Major has been integrated in The Synergized Quality Improvement Program in Teacher Education, and then counterpart relations with Shaanxi Normal University and Hainan Normal University have been established. In 2023, Foreign Languages and Literature has become the Key (Nurturing) Discipline in QTNU.
Since its upgrading to undergraduate education，the SFL has trained a large number of outstanding foreign language professional teachers for local areas. Undergraduates from the School are mainly engaged in English teaching positions of primary and secondary schools. With the good basic skill of English, flexible ability and preparedness for hard work，our graduates are well received by employers.
